"150 Club"  an open Invitation

Last year the club completed 150 years of quality local cricket provision in the village. There was afurther celebration in 2016, of 40 years continuous participation in the competitive Bradford League Division One, which means we have provided top class local cricket more than any other club at that level. The playing success of both 1st and 2nd Xl over these years has brought results of which we can be justifiably proud.

Our playing achievements comprise three Bradford District League Championship wins, five Bradford League One Division Championships and eight Priestley Cup victories. Beyond these our successes have been three Yorkshire Champions Triumphs and notable success in the national village cricket competition at Lord's, in 1979. Our 2" Xl has enjoyed success by winning their Championship League on seven occasions and the Priestley Shield on four occasions.

Many quality local players have been part of our achievements, also records show that international and county players have been in our ranks, too many to name individually. During these years we have fostered junior cricket sometimes fielding teams at four different age bands. Additionally we have played our part in community life with such events as school galas and Sports days.

Our progress off the field has been equally good and includes an extension to the club room, a brickbuilt tea pavilion to replace one of wood and improvements to the dressing rooms. Seating provision has increased, new sight boards installed and the score board updated.

There is a present need to increase our playing strength and to improve some facilities required by the new Bradford Premier League which has replaced the former Bradford Division One. We are asked for improved provision for umpires and enhancement of our dressing rooms. Other concerns are necessary repairs to our club house roof and refurbishment of the ladies toilets.

ln 2015 we launched an appeal for members to make a donation of £150 to meet these needs. l am writing to invite a number of people to make a special donation in recognition of our achievements and to encourage the maintenance of standards in sporting and social areas. l hope you will feel able to respond either individually or collectively as a family or group to our initiative. All donations will be entered into a prize draw of £500, £250 and £150 in recognition of each £150 donated and a commemorative badge provided in acknowledgement.

Thank you for your consideration
